RAW 2018
This past weekend I had the opportunity to bring a few members of the New Genesis to perform a showcase in Austin, Tx called RAW that is starting to become a well-known thing in the city. RAW is a international showcase that demonstrates any type of fine art department to be presented from visual or performing art. What brought me to RAW is because I’ve been a part of that showcase since the beginning it started in Austin. Also what separates me from this current RAW to other previous ones is that I got the chance to showcase my chorography and presented in front of everyone I know and potential work any companies. This showcase brought is bringing a community together to share and interact with other talent to know what each artist is made of to showcase their talent and that what brought me and my crew to come to RAW. I got the chance to talk to the director for RAW Austin, Zachary Sanders, about what he wanted for the show and allowed me to be open to whatever decision I wanted to present for my set and to give the people a positive message for them to remember. So the New Genesis and I worked many times to prepare for the showcase and it was a struggle for the most part in my case. The reason for this would have to be because since again this was my very first showcase that I would take full control and the pressure was setting in on me to extend that I need to eventually carefully what kind of dances I did or didn’t want on the set. However, it came together in the end and we got a chance to run through all the dances to make sure we knew what we were doing. When the day of RAW started I got the chance to meet all the other artists to see what they were bringing to the showcase and I was really impressed and amazed of all the talent everyone had. What I like most about RAW was I got the chance to bring everyone I know and loved from my friends and family. Admiring the love and support they have given me over the years is truly a blessing and I wouldn’t take that for granted. Overall, this showcase was not only an amazing experience to do but it was a lesson learn that made understand what it takes to perform your own and how to make sure it becomes successful in the end. Hopefully, I will get the chance to perform for RAW again maybe in a different city or country, who knows we’ll see what next for me and New Genesis.
Stats of the Months
So far this site has been a rough start a first but it has improved in a way that can make some adjustment in order for this siteto be successful in the end. The most popular view was when the site was launchin September and people wanted to know more about the New Genesis crew. I did believe it would be a slow start atfirst into making this blog site. However it has gain some recognition that Iknow it can also gain more viewers with more advisement and proper content toconnect with people in the dance community.
When launching the site we had about ten viewerslooking through the site and I was amazed to see that people want to know moreabout the crew and what we stand for in the Austin dance community. I wanted to make sure that everyone gets a chance to glance how New Genesis can be a well productive crew that our goalsto reach out to people and witness what we can do in the dance community in any performance. This site will continue to share more content of what New Genesiswill be doing the future when it comes to performances or video project we have in stored.
One thing I do know is to make sure this sitecontinue to get more recognition for more viewers to see what New Genesis has inthe future. Being able for viewers to be a part of the expressions andunderstand the motive we stand for when we launched the site. As well aware theviewers for upcoming events that they might get the chance to meet some of the members and maybe want to know more about us personally.
